【摘要】:ForPMmaterialscontaininglessthantwopercentporosity,adensitymeasurementmaybeusedtodetermineiftheparthasbeendensified,eitheroverallorinacriticalregion,tothedegreerequiredfortheintendedapplication.Densityalonecannotbeusedforevaluatingthedegreeofdensificationbecausechemicalcompositionandheattreatmentaffectthepore-freedensity.Forcementedcarbides,adensitymeasurementisnormallyusedtodetermineifthereisanysignificantdeviationincompositionofthecarbidegrade.Forstraighttungstencarbide-cobaltgrades,therelationshipisstraightforward.Forcomplexcarbidegrades(forexample,gradescontainingtantalumcarbideortitaniumcarbide,orboth,inadditiontotungstencarbide-cobalt),thesituationismorecomplicated.Ifthemeasureddensityisbeyondthespecifiedlimits,thecompositionisoutsideofthespecifiedlimits.Ameasureddensitywithinthespecifiedlimitsdoesnotensurecorrectcomposition;compensationbetweentwoormoreconstituentscouldresultintheexpecteddensitywiththewrongcomposition.Densityalonecannotbeusedforevaluatingacementedcarbidegrade.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofdensityforpowdermetallurgy(PM)materialscontaininglessthantwopercentporosityandforcementedcarbides.Thistestmethodisbasedonthewaterdisplacementmethod.Note18212;Atestspecimenthatgainsmasswhenimmersedinwaterindicatesthespecimencontainssurface-connectedporosity.Unsealedsurfaceporositywillabsorbwaterandcausedensityvalueshigherthanthetruevalue.Thistestmethodisnotapplicableifthisproblemoccurs.1.2Withtheexceptionofdensityvalues,forwhichtheg/cm3unitistheindustrystandard,thevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Valuesininch-poundunitsareshowninparenthesesandresultfromconversioninaccordancewithIEEE/ASTMStandardSI10.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
